'Owl-Dragon Pellet/Egg' 2019
(2024 Update)

This is a two-part sculpture I created ~

A perfect centerpiece for the artistic interior (not for outdoor use). Cast of solid pewter, semi-previous stones and bones. The vertebrae-base was cast from a
mold I made from a bone I discovered while beach combing long ago, while the upright tooth/back-stand is from a molar.

Its Story ~

As all lovers of reptiles and birds know, all feathered-ones were once reptiles. Dragons, by an act of pure will, can choose to evolve beyond their legendary,
reptilian forms, albeit in-between lizard and bird. These dragons who choose such are known as owl-dragons. This object perched on a great vertebrae and
single tooth is known in some parts of Space, as a ‘dragon egg’, while others term it an ‘owl-dragon pellet.’ Formed when the dragon eats prey (and it’s own
treasure), combining polarities of loss and gain to form an 'egg'. It is said that it’s very rare to find one intact, as this one is. Upon finding one, it bestows it’s
discoverer a great opportunity...

When fairies find one, they hold a grand, silent festival of contemplation and voting. Once tallied, the egg births their ‘Wish upon a Star’, a being of their own
devising, made of both their collective needs, deeds and subconscious/dreams. Both child of dragon and mind/spirit of the Faerie-kind, immortal and forever
perplexing Life itself to keep one eye open. It’s even more rare that several fairy clans would discover a pellet together, yet, that’s the story of this one... Upon its
beginning to hatch, those from each clan rush to emboss/forge the approach-side of its base, ringing their vibratory-intentions into the birthing-moment. The
stamped designs in its base (the vertebrae) are from the Star-clan, the Earthworm-clan, the Dot-Clan and the Snowflake clan, all very fortunate parents,
forever changed and tempered by this egg’s being’s birth. MEA
