'Pluto's Cherub' 2018/19

This sculpture was created in the early days of my pewter casting beginnings, experimenting with various material combinations, casting techniques, mechanics of dissimilar-materials fusion and overall, seeing how far the envelope could be pushed in the creation process via a new sculptural paradigm. The head was cast separate then put back into a casting-frame, adjusted to carry itself correctly based on the vertebrae position, then cast around the pewter and bone to fuse the two together. Manual soldering was then employed to attach other elements/detailing. Lastly, after casting this, I went back in with a small torch to reveal elements (mostly the sea shells) hidden by the more basic pewter casting surface area, making it more a more archeological, semi-sculpting Part 2 process.
