Early Classical ~ Zeus, Shiva’s Triton, Rilke, Girl Posing & Baby Zeus

‘Zeus’ ~ Half life-size in scale. The original base was simple limestone; I sculpted this bronze foundation about a decade after the statue’s completion, a narrative more unto itself, making it arrive full circle.

‘Baby Zeus’

‘Shiva’s Triton’

‘Rilke’ (Rainer Maria Rilke) First stud; slightly larger than life-sized.

‘Zeus’ on display at ‘Collector’s Gallery’ in Carmel, California.

During the early 2000’s: a brief exploration into anatomy, portraiture & bronze.

‘Zeus’ was my first classical sculpture; in Graduate school I mainly worked in welded steel and cast glass delving into more contemporary sculptural aesthetics. In undergraduate I focused on mixed media, illustration and welded steel.

‘Girl Posing’

Life sized ~ This sculpture is approximately 4’ feet tall.

‘Rilke’ (Rainer Maria Rilke) Second study. The same sculpture after going back and reworking the face/forehead & hair.

‘Child Neptune’ ~ I went back and cast another sculpture-wax-copy of ‘Baby Zeus’ (above), reworked its anatomy and theme, then made another mother-mold for the new rendition. On display with ‘Zeus’ at ‘Collector’s Gallery’ in Carmel, California.
